The Epistle of James: Faith in Action
This little NT book is the favorite of many. It has been called the Proverbs of the NT because of its practical nature.
James addresses himself to believers and his theme is the believer putting his Faith in Action. He wanted the early Christians to understandthat having a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus should result in actions that demonstrate one's love for the Lord.
He makes two main points:
Faith needs to be Maintained (Chapter 1)
Saving faith is the starting point of the Christian life.
The Christian life is a life of faith.
Many things enter into helping our faith to be maintained and to grow
Faith needs to be Displayed (Chapters 2-5)
One who is truly a child of God will live a life indicative of that relationship.
True faith will be displayed by:
Respect for Others 2:1-13
Good works 2:14-26
Controlled speech 3:1-12
Victorious living 3:13-4:10
Finding the will of God 4:13-17
Reasonable treatment of the Brethren 5:1-12; 4:11, 12
A vibrant prayer life 5:13-20
Below you will find links to these studies. My prayer is that these messages will be a blessing to you and to anyone with whomyou wish to share them.
These lessons have recently but revised and updated just a little bit.
If you happen to be in the midst of this study, the only major difference that you will find is that they are now in a more recent format of Microsoft Word.
